A couple of tuners and a preamp. A monoblock and a few integrated amps. I never cared for the size and weight of the receivers much. -Bill. WebNov 10, 2024 · The 55a is a higher power (for the day) amplifier. The 30 (and 20) uses 6bq5 tubes for about 15 watts per amp. Of all of these amps, the 70/80 series are probably the worst sounding among what are overall good amplifiers. That may sound like damning with faint praise, but the 50, 55, 20/30 just sound so much better.

The other non JAN spec Sylvania 7C5s have a square corner on the oval plate ends- not good sounding. I also changed the preamp tube to USA built Raytheon 6CG7 with black plates.
